On March 30th, 1987 the New Orleans Superdome played host to the 1987 NCAA National Championship game between the #1 seed from the mid-west region, the Indiana Hoosiers and the #2 seed from the east region, the Syracuse Orangemen. Indiana beat UNLV in a 97-93 shootout to advance to the title game and Syracuse rolled in a 14 point victory over Providence for their right in the championship showdown. The championship game was Syracuse?s first title game appearance in school history and it brought Indiana?s title game total to five.
